Sri Wilayah Ballet Centre opened its doors on 6th June.
By year end, the 1st RAD candidates were entered in for examinations.
1983-1988
Held classes at Taman Melawati on Fridays, and accepted students from Malacca.
1987
Students auditioned for Korea’s Universal Ballet and danced in The Nutcracker.
Students began participating in dance competitions organised by The Dance Society of Malaysia (TDS).
1989-1992
A few students left for London, USA, and Hong Kong to further their dance education.
Took in a partner and employed 2 advanced students as part-time teachers.
1989, October
Held our 1st concert at MPPJ Civic Centre.
Students performed in the 1st Visit Malaysia Year official opening ceremony.
1991, August
Student teacher Wong Lee Foon won first prize in the 1st TDS Solo Ballet Competition.
1993 – 2002
1993-1998
Students entered the Eon Talent Competition for 2 years running.

✲ 2nd Year: Teacher Chua Meei Sien’s choreography won 1st Prize in the Under-12 Dance Category
SWBC performed in the Inaugural Programme in conjunction with the launch of the MEASAT1 satellite.

Studio premises expanded to 2 floors, with 3 studios.
SWBC participated in dance performances in conjunction with Malaysia Fest celebrations.
Tri-annual concerts at MPPJ Civic hall, then at Securities Commission. Concert repertoire included Coppelia and Sleeping Beauty.

1st SWBC Dance Day Camp held in August for 4 days drew 45 dance participants from KL, Klang, Malacca, Terengganu, Kelantan and Penang.
‘STARS IN SILVER’ 25th Anniversary
SWBC celebrated 25 years of great achievements and results with ‘Stars in Silver’ 25th Anniversary Concert held at Eastin Hotel on the 26th of October.

Celebrated 30th Anniversary with an adaptation of the full length ballet, ‘The Nutcracker” on the 30th of November at Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL).

Celebrated 34 years of assistance with concert titled ‘Ballet Classics’, featuring excerpts of Cinderella, Don Quixote, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty, held at Temple of Fine Arts. Invited the participation of Wesley School of Arts (which was started as an outreach program by the Wesley Methodist Church, KL, in order to give children of lower income families an opportunity to study dance and music).

YGP Singapore 2024
Emma and Szu Zenn participated in the YGP Singapore 3-days of masterclasses and scholarship classes, and were awarded special Grishko gift sets and a 1-year gold membership.
Szu Zenn participated in A Dance Memoir, performed at KLPAC and choreographed by Choong Wan Chin in a special collaboration with Shanghai Dance School students.
Alum Fara Ling performed in Echoes of the Hornbill’s Cry by Raziman Company, choreographed by Raziman Sarbini and blending contemporary movement with traditional Sarawakian culture.
WEST SIDE STORY THE MUSICAL
SWBC danced in West Side Story (originally of Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim), our third collaboration with Bentley Music Malaysia, The Culture Exchange, students from Central Conservatorium of Music, Queensland, and Orkestra Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) musicians, under Director Jo Kukathas and Conductor Kevin Field at PJPAC for 4 shows on the 14th & 15th of December. The performance was made up of an international ensemble of 90 people from Malaysia, Australia, and Europe. Choreography by Kenny Shim, Ashvini Pandian, Audrey Chua, and Emma Goding, and dancers Adele Ng, Amirah Redza, Annabelle Wong, Ashvini Pandian, Audrey Chua, Emma Wong, Hayley Sze, Ho Kah Yeng, Irina Lim, Natalie Wong, Tan Jo-Lyn, Tomiko Dylan Alex.
Ballet Nights Kuala Lumpur, The London Sensation
After a 4-round audition, Sophia was selected as the Young Ambassador for Ballet Nights 2025, of which she gave a speech for the press conference at World Trade Centre.
We held our Awards Presentation in December for both Internal Graded Examinations of our new training method and RAD Vocational Examinations.
Concluded the end of the year and last day of classes with our SWBC Christmas Party for all students, filled with games and snacks specially contributed by parents.
